A sign-in error may be caused by your institutional account, the data shared by your institution through SURFconext, product availability or your browser. Follow the checks below.

Check your SURFconext profile

  1. Open your SURFconext profile and sign in through your institution.
  2. Under Affiliation, check whether student or employee is listed (example).
  3. If the value is missing, contact your institution’s IT help desk. Only your institution can change it.

“This product is not available to your institution”

If you can sign in but see this message for a product, your institution may not have an agreement for that product. Select an available product or ask your institution about the options.

You are a new student or employee

Some institutions activate access only from the official start date, such as 1 September. Ask your institution when your account will be fully active.

Try another browser session

  1. Close other SURFspot and SURFconext tabs.
  2. Open a private or incognito window and try again.
  3. If that does not work, try another current browser and temporarily disable your VPN.

The error continues

Contact SURFspot and include the complete error, time, institution and browser. Never share your password. Obscure sensitive details in screenshots.
